Spring has sprung upon us. During this time of the year, many people are feeling in the mood to do some cleaning around their houses. Sometimes, we all need to do a little organizing of our lives. There happen to be several good tips we can follow to jumpstart a stress-free spring cleaning. Here are five good tips you can follow to get the process moving smoothly.
Make a Schedule
The first thing you must do is create a schedule. Writing out a plan will keep you from doing things impulsively. It will make the cleaning process less stressful. You can first start off by deciding which room needs the most work. Most people like to start off cleaning the kitchen or the bathroom because more activity typically happens in these rooms. Regardless of which room you choose to clean first, be sure to write it on paper along with some key duties in the room you want to focus on.
Declutter Your Space
This next tip is often dreaded by a lot of people and it involves clearing the clutter in your home. But before you start attempting to organize, you must decide which room to focus on. Then you will decide which area to give the highest priority, like the closet, clothing drawers, etc. Start setting aside time to remove every item from that area and create two piles, one for things to keep and one for things to eliminate. Choosing to declutter your space will leave you feeling mentally refreshed, stress-free, and free of clutter.
Break Cleaning Times into Short Intervals
If you want a stress-free spring cleaning, it may be best to take some occasional breaks in between. Some people can continue the cleaning process for long time intervals. However, some people have found that breaking their cleaning time into short periods works best for them.Â
Try breaking your cleaning time into 10-20 minutes of small tasks. Devote 10 minutes to dusting your wooden shelves. Then spend 20 minutes cleaning the stove. By breaking your cleaning tasks into short cracks of time, you can still accomplish a lot.
Create Your All-Purpose Cleaners
With the fresh air of springtime around, you probably wouldn’t want to expose both yourself and your home to chemicals and toxins. This could be harmful to your health and the environment. You will also have to use different cleaning cloths for multiple surfaces.
A great way to avoid this is to create your own cleaning products. There are all sorts of recipes online regarding how to make an all-purpose cleaner. Some of the best affordable ingredients to use are white distilled vinegar, baking soda, and water. There is also an all-purpose cleaner recipe consisting of:
- 24 oz. water
- ½ cup of hydrogen peroxide
- ½ cup of alcohol
- 2 tsp Dawn dishwashing soap
- 2 tsp vinegar.
This cleaner will allow you to effectively clean through harsh build-up in your bathroom and kitchen areas. You can also quickly spray through high-touch surfaces. By making homemade products, you will be saving a lot of time and stress during your cleaning journey.
Reinvent Your Home
Spring cleaning sometimes motivates people to make some changes to their homes. With us spending most of our time at home, we may likely become inspired to do some redecorating. Trade in that drab furniture for some lighter, updated sofas and chairs. Add new colorful pillows, linens, or art to put some spice into your home. Change up your living space to blend in with the spring season.
