The word bullying can invoke different responses and feelings in people due to their unique situations in a multitude of ways. Although, have we lost touch with what bullies are? The glory that evolves around bullies is quite tragic because, deep down, they are incredibly insecure kids who are projecting their emotions from personal issues onto you. That’s right, so in a way, doesn’t that technically make you the stronger one? By letting them take your power, you are hurting not only yourself but your internal shield. Yet, who says we can’t regain our power?
Learning How to Protect Yourself
Almost like an invisible shield, your internal shield prevents you from taking in any insults or damaging remarks before reviewing them and deciding how it affects you before you have the chance to react. Therefore, letting a bully weaken your protective shield by not only allowing the bully to affect you but completely get to you on a whole different level can brutally weaken your protective shield. As a result of bullying, damage to your protective shield is repeatedly happening. This may lead to mental and physical issues and may cause low self-esteem problems, which could lead to severe depression and insecurities.
Don’t Let it Escalate. Tell Someone!
Moreover, the longer you let a bully affect you, the worse your internal shield strength gets. Don’t let it get so weak that everything and anything affects/hurts you. You are so much stronger than that, worth everything and more. No one deserves to be alone or feel alone, especially in something as severe as bullying. So don’t let that happen; tell someone. It’s not Lame to let a trusted adult know what’s going on, whether it’s a parent, counselor, teacher, etc. Make sure you are in a safe, comfortable place when you open up. This will help with taking steps to eliminate the problem, so you can gain back some power and work on the road to recovery in order to completely heal.
Things To Remember
Remember, You are never alone. Someone loves you even if you don’t think anyone does. You are worth so much more than you think you are. If someone is bullying you, don’t let them. I know it can seem scary, but you don’t deserve to endure the pain. So tell someone, and please make sure not to interact with the bully or fight back and only tell an adult you truly trust.
