CHICAGO – Step Up For Mental Health recently had the opportunity to attend Cook County’s inaugural Behavioral Health Summit in Chicago, an event that brought together elected officials (Mayor Brandon Johnson, Governor. J. B. Pritzker), clinicians, peer support specialist and facilitators, social service providers, community leaders, and residents to discuss critical issues surrounding access to mental health and substance abuse treatment.
The summit, hosted by Cook County Health, aimed to foster collaboration and generate valuable insights to inform the development of a countywide behavioral health strategic plan. Additionally, the discussions will play a crucial role in shaping upcoming funding opportunities through Cook County Health’s Impact Fund, that will open up March 6 in the amount of $44M.
