We know that mental health issues in the home affect children of all ages. Parents who are dealing with a mood disorder themselves, are more likely to have poverty issues that are a direct line to their kids learning or having the tools needed to be successful and get good grades. Let’s help break the cycle of poverty + mental health.
As a kid, teen and young adult trying to finish school and earn my degree, I had a hard time keeping school supplies, like paper, a book bag or pens for elementary school, high school, and books or a laptop in college due to my mother’s inability to work due to her mental disability. It was a very difficult time in my life, and if I can make it less so for other families and their children, I want to try.
