Book: What Happened to You? by Bruce Perry & Oprah Winfrey

Time: 5:00 p.m. CST / 6:30 p.m. EST

Discussion Schedule with Ivania Delgado:

Introduction & Chapters 1-2

What are the benefits of content warnings, and how to prepare for discussions on trauma? Do we conflate trauma with culture? What are your thoughts on “this work starts with the self” beliefs regarding a trauma-informed practice?

This group event is FREE  or a suggested Donation to support our mission in mental health peer support and services.

This is a new format, based on the turn out we will do more: The weeks ahead coming soon.

Chapters 3-4

How does reading about neuro bottom-up processing examples help us think about children’s behavior? Let’s talk ACES—don’t forget to review pages 106-107.

Chapters 5 & 6

Let’s describe and explain the sequence of engagement. Discuss the different coping methods presented in these chapters and the role that positive childhood experiences have in healing.

Chapters 7 & 8

What does Dr. Perry mean when he says we marginalize traumatized children? Let’s discuss how colonization, slavery, and the U.S. reservation system impact people today. How can we implement the 6Rs (pg. 230) in our work?

Chapters 9 & 10 & Epilogue

What does Dr. Perry mean when he says the world is relationally impoverished? What are the core elements of awareness coupled with connectedness?

We use Google Meet and can hold 500 people, but most likely, meetings will be around 25 people—best experience using Google Chrome Browser. Check your computer audio before peer group times for the best results.

Our community events are virtual and require registration at this time. All events have accessibility via Closed Captioning and you can also change captioning to your language of your choice. (Ask the facilitators how). Check the event page for details on individual group events. When you register for virtual events, all Google Meet links will be sent to your email to join the group. You do not need any software but a laptop or tablet. If you are using a mobile phone, you will need to download the app. (The best way for mobile is horizontal viewing).

Providing Interactive Support and Services

Mental health touches a variety of groups and backgrounds. Our goal is to make life easier for all individuals and families dealing with mental health issues during stress and crisis. Think about becoming a recurring donor and support our mission.
