Mental Talk – Peer Support Group: Addiction and Mental Health
Addiction and Mental Health is a major issue that people face every day, those two categories go hand in hand. Many people with substance use disorders are also diagnosed with mental health illnesses. Whether it be anxiety, depression, bipolar, or any major mental illness, some tend to numb these pains with drugs and alcohol. Join us in a discussion about substance abuse and mental illness. We will discuss how substance abuse and mental illness are related, and how there are ways you can go about curbing these urges to use drugs or alcohol to cope with mental illness.
About Mental Talk: Good Mental Health is all about talking, sharing, and listening to one another. What better way to share life experiences in a supportive peer and topic lead group. Topics will range from work, family, caregivers and life balance, meditation, chronic pain, self-care, stress, racism (Transgenerational Trauma) depression, and more. Mental Talk is for someone who believes peer mental health support is important. This group is open, honest, and willing to share in a supportive environment. No judgment. Always kindness.
